Ready for some free, hands-on challenges and interactive centers? Makerspace gives homeschool students in grades K-5 the opportunity to participate in multi-station, center-based experimentation. Each station is designed for learning, creating, exploring, and colloborating on ideas and ways to solve problems. Children have the freedom to do this individually or collaboratively in groups of various sizes. Kids recognize links between the enjoyment they experience while they are “making” and can connect concepts to possible future careers in STEAM. Although Makerspace may seem to be just interactive play, it is important to realize that this type of experimentation builds social-emotional competence in language, social skills, empathy, imagination, self-control, persistence, and higher-order thinking.

Join us for one or all of the Makerspace Meet-ups in the Myrick Media Center of Mount Paran Christian School. Younger siblings, of course, may join you during the meet-up but please know that activities are appropriate for children in Kindergarten and above. As a fun add-on, homeschool families are also invited to attend lower school chapel service before the makerspace activities.
